Adapted from Angela Lambert's novel this is the story of two widowers coming to terms with loss and loneliness.

An RAF squadron leader (Finney) and a retired milkman (Courtenay) decide move in together after they are both widowed on the very same night. The two quickly bond having shared a past in the service. However, the introduction of beautiful lady with some ulterior motives, threatens the friendship of the odd couple. Based on the novel by Angela Lambert.
