Vampire Lovers / Lust For A Vampire - Hammer Films

The Vampire Lovers and Lust for a Vampire are the first two instalments of Hammer’s Kamstein Trilogy. Based upon the writings of celebrated author J. Sheridan Le Fanu, both films gained immense notoriety upon their original release for their sexual overtones, erotically charged horror and explicit scenes depicting lesbianism. Highly influential to this day, the Kamstein films brought the vampire legend into the modern age.

The Vampire Lovers (1970)
The Vampire Lovers stars the incredibly sensual Ingrid Pitt (The House That Dripped Blood, The Wicker Man) as the alluring but deadly Mircalla Karnstein. Posing as a guest Mircalla takes sadistic pleasure in exploiting the hospitality of aristocrats and preying on their innocent daughters. Moving within the shadows of midnight she uses wordless seduction to entice the female members of the house into her world of blood and lust. Directed by Roy Ward Baker (Quatermass And The Pitt, Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires), The Vampire Lovers also features Kata O’Mara (The Horror of Frankenstein) and Hammer legend, Peter Cushing.

Lust For A Vampire (1971)
In Lust For a Vampire, Hammer productions takes the original scenario of Mircalla Karnstein and her insatiable female vampires to new extremes. Forty years after her original reign of terror Mircalla is about to be resurrected. Using black magic and the blood of innocent virgins, a group of Karnstein heirs are about to raise her from the grave. Set loose amongst the residents of an all-girl finishing school, Mircella’s thirst for blood merely matches her desire for young flesh.
